Hypnobirthing has been around for a very long time. What you are learning is not rocket science but we live in a modern society where birthing skills and techniques are not taught, practiced or spoken about until you fall pregnant and are ready to have your baby.
The classes teach mother and support partner a combination of techniques that include positive thinking (birth affirmations), good positions for labour and birth (birth skills), deep relaxation and visualisation (hypnosis for childbirth) and breathing techniques. These techniques can help you cope with labour, achieve a calm birth regardless and prepare you if your birthing takes the medical path.
It’s a good idea to bring your support partner to the class. In the class, your support partner will be learning alongside you. You both walk away from the course with real tools and techniques that you can continue practicing at home until you go into labour. The idea is that you become very familiar with the techniques such that it’s easy to use during labour and birth.
